Welcome to Flourish! As both a parent and a doctor, I understand that getting to know your child’s healthcare provider is very important. At Flourish, we promise to be open and honest with you, and we want to get to know you and your family, too.

My Background

My parents were both in the medical field growing up, my mom a nurse and my dad an OBGYN. Watching them care for their patients both inside and outside of the office and hospital inspired me from a very early age. In high school, I volunteered in the pediatric ward of our local hospital and took an immediate interest in the field. After that, I never wavered from wanting to be a pediatrician.

I attended college at Xavier University of Louisiana and then graduated from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in 2005. After medical school, I completed my General Pediatric Residency and Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. A job in the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta emergency department brought me to Atlanta in 2011. A few years ago, I decided to work as a primary care pediatrician in the North Fulton area while also continuing to serve as a pediatric emergency physician when needed. I currently live in Roswell with my husband and son (our daughter is in college!) and I enjoy yoga, traveling and interior design.

Why I Do What I Do

While I’ve always been healthy and active, my parents passed away when I was young and that motivated me to learn and understand medicine and its role in preventing and treating conditions in a different way. Instead of being “reactive,” I decided that’s it’s extremely important to be “proactive.” This mindset shift led me on a path to improve some of my own family’s lifestyle habits and behaviors, paying more attention to things like sleep, diet, stress and exercise. This eventually led me to become a board-certified Lifestyle Medicine physician, and I’ve been implementing these health pillars, along with traditional medicine practices, with patients and families ever since.

Working  in different aspects of medicine has also helped me understand that while medication is necessary at times, there may also be other things that could improve health, too. Considering the entire person and their behaviors is critical when determining general wellness practices and condition-specific treatment options. By personalizing my approach to health and medicine, I’m able to treat my patients more effectively—and also help families develop healthy, sustainable habits over time.

I am very passionate about this approach to pediatric wellness. I can’t wait to be part of your team, and help you and your family “flourish.”

My Background

At a very young age my parents instilled in me the importance of giving back and helping others
whenever I can. I took an interest in Medicine after watching my mother progress in her career as a
healthcare administrator. Because of her career I was afforded the opportunity to meet several
physicians, and I enjoyed watching the impact, and compassion they showed for their patients. I
admired how deeply the physicians would connect with their patients and with continued time create
sustainable life changes. I then joined a high school health care organization, and was intricately
involved. That only further fostered my passion for science and the human body.

I attended Xavier University of Louisiana for my undergraduate degree, and then completed a Master of
Science degree at Hampton University. After completing my Master’s program, I received a Medical
Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in 2017. I then came back to my
beloved city, to complete my General Pediatric Residency at Emory University. Since completion of
General Pediatrics Residency I have enjoyed working as a pediatrician in the metro Atlanta area. I
currently live in Atlanta, GA and enjoy spending time with my loved ones, working out, and finding fun
new restaurants to try!

Why I Do What I Do

Through my training I have found that children are very resilient, and impressionable. They have the ability to teach us (the adults) many compelling perspectives on life, that we otherwise may have never seen. Because children are so precious, I feel it nothing short of an obligation as a pediatrician to continuously advocate for all children and adolescents. In residency I trained in a competitive program for Emory Residents and Fellows to gain knowledge, skills and methods necessary to address social determinants of health, and advocate for health policies to address them. I understand the importance of healthy lifestyle practices including reduction of stress, eating nutrient rich foods, and increasing physical activity.

I believe in caring for the whole patient and family. Included in that is supporting the emotional, and physical wellbeing of my patients. Through my tailored approach to medicine, I have learned over the years that by hearing and understanding my parents/patients concerns and taking time to KNOW my patients; a team can be developed to make sustainable changes to reach wellness goals. I am so excited to be joining the Flourish Pediatrics team, and cannot wait to meet you and your family!
